MITA will provide access to modern agricultural knowledge, high-quality inputs and fertilizers, technology and viable markets to 5,000 marginalized smallholder farmers in rural Ivory Coast so that they can live free and dignified lives.
Ivory Coast is home to over 3 million smallholder farmers who are important in the fight against hunger and poverty in the country. While the government has provided resources to catalyze agricultural productivity, smallholder farmers continue to face barriers - lack of access to modern agricultural knowledge, high-quality inputs and reliable markets - which affect their profitability and production capacities. This project will empower more than 5,000 smallholder farmers to become self-reliant
MITA will provide high-quality seeds and fertilizers to smallholder farmers. Additionally, farmers will be trained on modern agricultural techniques and basic financial literacy. Finally, MITA will offer crop storage solutions, connect farmers to reliable buyers and teach farmers about market fluctuations, so that they can take advantage of these market trends and maximize profits.
The project will have a direct, lifelong positive impact on the lives of 5,000 smallholder farmers who will use the training received during the project to sustainably increase their yield and profitability. The project will also have an indirect positive impact on the lives of the participants' relatives and the communities in which they live.
