This project will train and empower women in WASA IDP Settlement in Abuja, providing quality income generating activities to 300 disadvantaged women who fled from Northeast and Northcentral as a result of insurgency, also support them with start up fund.
There are currently more than 20,659 Internally Displaced Persons living in Abuja according to the office United Nations High commissioner for Refugees UNHCR. Although UNHCR and NEMA are working diligently with Nigerian Government to curtail Violent Extremism, these IDPs are at the risk of Starvation, Sexual Gender Base Violence, Psychosocial trauma, lack of means of livelihood, access to health and medical care, wash and education.This project will affect more than 300 IDPs in WASA IDP Abuja.
Phelyn provides income generating activities, account/record keeping training and sensitization workshop on SGBV for women in WASA IDP Settlement. The Participants will be drawn from both male and female in the camp. A TEAM of medical professionals shall be available to treat rape victims. The children will be supported with nutritional food items. This project will empower women, reduce poverty and gender based violence in WASA IDP. The women will be encouraged to train others.
The project will educate and empower 300 women in WASA IDP Settlement, allowing them to rise out of poverty, which will improve the health and well-being of their families.
