Shadia is a 28 year old widow living with HIV and AIDS. Her predicament began when she lost her husband to HIV and AIDS in 2006. She has 2 children; Grace 6 years and Catherine 4 years. They are both in primary school. Shadia works so hard to maintain her family since the husband left them in a very vulnerable state and the house in which they stay does not offer any comfort as it is very weak and leaks when it rains. Shadia is optimistic due to the counselling she has received from Rakai Community Based AIDS Organization (RACOBAO). She always endeavours to make ends meet by digging in the nearby gardens in exchange for cash. This is however inadequate given the numerous responsibilities, which range from scholastic materials, clothing and food. Through funds raised from Global Giving, RACOBAO has supported this family with 3 goats. The goats were treated and the family was trained on how to look after them. Shadia was all smiles as she narrated; "One of my priorities is going to be these goats, I will look after them very well, they will reproduce and I will sell off some of the offsprings when in need of financial support. My burden has been relieved and I will sure see my children through school. Thank you Global giving for rekindling our lost hope."
