This project funds the work of 25 poor women led families as they house, educate, and feed 350 of the poorest and most vulnerable children in south central Uganda. Every donation not only provides for the daily needs of these children directly, but also facilitates RCC's grassroots, bottom-up approach to community development by providing capacity-building services to each family. Donate today to join these women as they carry out their vision to pioneer the end of child poverty in Uganda
Challenge In sub-Saharan Africa alone, 247 million children are deprived of their basic rights. it is estimated that 2 in 3 children in Uganda suffer from deprivation of nutrition, health, water, education or shelter. In these cases, many children are forced to go hungry and drop out of school. Often, when outsiders bring funding to address this, the community's voice is drowned out by the funders. RCC strives to change that through direct empowerment of households and communalization
We fund the daily operating costs of the different households. we provide scholarship and sponsor vocational training. we carry out follow up studies on how best to work together as communities to create sustainability. RCC provides food supplies to the different households as well training in ways of attaining food security. Specifically, we provide food, school fees, educational supplies and personal basic needs serving 350 vulnerable children in a way that is empowering and sustainable.
This project will give 350 vulnerable children everything they need to finish school and rise out of poverty. Even more importantly, the visionary women in charge of each household will receive capacity-building services and training to ensure that their projects continue to grow, thrive, and serve even more children in other areas of Uganda. In this way, RCC not only uplifts one group of children, but works to confront the very forces that reproduce poverty across generations.
