Vratsa Software's goal is to build an IT community which through quality education gives the people of Vratsa and the region the opportunity to have challenging and well-paid jobs in their hometowns. We've educated more than 400 people so far. As a next step we want to create a modern space to unite this digital community. It will enable the trained professionals to work together, to exchange experience, ideas and resources, as well as to attract digital nomads from Bulgaria and the world.
This region's economics does not offer opportunities for growth and quality of life for its people. There is no industry and no source of outside income. The main challenge we tackle is the limited choices people have here - living in poverty or not living here at all. Our challenge is to introduce a new industry for this region - the IT industry. This can't be done without quality education, working closely with the IT business and support of the newly trained people.
We created Vratsa Software with the idea to provide quality education in the fields of Information technologies to the people of the Vratsa region, to help them master relevant skills to the software companies and to empower them to find jobs or create their own ventures in that field in Vratsa. Now there are 24 people who work in IT in Vratsa and 3 companies opened offices. Also each year more than 20 high school students participate in national IT events and competitions.
So far we have been focused only on providing IT trainings trainings and events. Now there is a critical mass of people in the IT community and is time for some infrastructure. This will boost the knowledge sharing between IT professionals in Vratsa and also attract digital nomads who will enrich the ecosystem. Companies will be able to start business in Vratsa easier. This is a good step in making the digital industry in the town stable and a prerequisite to continue its growth.
