The Agropreneur Intervention is focused on building the business and technical skills of 200 Kebbi Farmers providing access to inputs and Access to Business advisory services This is to help them achieve better yields and consequently increase their income.
Reports from our Baseline survey in Kebbi state show that student attendance rate in some schools is as low as 7 in a class of 70 during the planting season because they're on the farm with parents whose source of livelihood is farming. According to a 2019 report by Statista, Kebbi State is the 21stpoorest state in Nigeria. Implying that 50.2% of her populace live below the poverty line. These Farmers are faced with challenges and hence require aid to increase their yields and increase income.
The Agroprenuer intervention will provide the Farmers with training on how to leverage on cooperative learning and implementation structures to achieve synergies and economies of scale. Farmers will also be trained on all aspects of improving yields thereby improving income through the technical and business skills components (comprising of customer relationship; Book keeping; understanding markets etc)designed to consequently enhance their livelihood.
This intervention will empower 200 Farmers to be able to increase their income for enhanced livelihood and a sustainable economy.
