Our report highlights our work on empowering girls affected by Female Genital Mutilation in rural Kenya.
In the Kurian community FGM is one of the forms of harmful cultural practices that is carried out affecting adolescent girls.FGM is often carried out as a rite of passage ,marriageability among other factors. This has affected girls wellbeing ,health and growth.
The project has supported girls with access to basic needs such as menstrual health care essentials, school support such as school uniforms and school shoes.
In the just concluded school opening through the project we have supported vulnerable girls with school fees and other school essentials.
This has allowed most of the girls to stay in school/attend classes frequently having full access to education, restoring their dignity through school uniforms and menstrual health care essentials reducing their risk of being exposed to violence.Lack of menstrual health care often force girls to miss school increasing their risk of being subjected to Female Genital Mutilation,Child Marriage and other froms of violence.
Please check our social media pages for progress and updates on the project,We will continue sharing our experiences, thank you for supporting our work.
