Devastating monsoons have displaced more than 70,000 people in Myanmar and we urgently need your help to provide them with life-saving supplies. BRAC started its response on August 1st, providing medicine, clean water, food, cooking materials, and latrines in six relief camps. We need your support now to scale up these services and reach 20,000 people who desperately need help.
In mid-July heavy monsoon rains forced thousands of people in Myanmar to leave their homes. According to the Department for Disaster Management (DDM), Bago is one of the most affected areas with more than 71,000 people displaced (over 15,000 households). People are taking shelter in 157 evacuation sites including monasteries and schools where the government and organizations like BRAC are providing relief services.
BRAC was one of the first organizations to respond to the crisis. Your donation will go directly to providing life-saving services to families in need. Our staff are on the ground providing food, water, installing toilets, and healthcare to thousands of people in need.
With a long-term presence in Myanmar, BRAC will provide immediate emergency relief as well as long-term support to help families rebuild their lives after the flooding dissipates.
