Based in Malindi, Kenya, Elimu runs Elimu Resource Centre (ERC) - a digital hub for learners. The Centre enhances access to education, improves digital literacy in the community, and helps youth find pathways to more meaningful futures through skills development, employment planning and entrepreneurship. It provides solutions for vulnerable children whose parents cannot afford to keep them in school or provide for their further studies after high school.
It's been 5 years since we opened the new Elimu Resource Centre in Malindi, Kenya. With hundreds of children passing through our doors since then to find the resources they need for their studies, we are in need of replacements, upgrades and new equipment. We recorded 15,000 student visits in 2019. With our numbers climbing again after COVID reductions, we want to be sure kids will find all they need and in functioning order!
We are raising funds to to purchase new tablets so students can continue to access our Offline eLearning platform for their primary and secondary school study needs. We need to replace damaged tables and chairs and add more computer chairs. We need additional desktop computers for our DigiTech Lab and Cisco Networking Academy.
Quality working equipment means our beneficiaries will continue to get access to the learning resources they need while easily gaining digital literacy skills which are so critical for their future work.
