We're all going to grow old, right? Mensajeros de la Paz has a home for older adults - men and women - who have found themselves lonely without the necessary care for everyday life, many of them living on the street. In this community, residents receive psycho-motor stimulation, do laughter therapy workshops, art, computer, memory and are free to enjoy their own hours and what they feel like doing every day, as if they were at their own home. These activities are based on a healthy diet,

Disability, economic difficulties or loneliness - especially beacuse of the death of their relatives -, are just a few of the many reasons why the elder adults of the Home San Jose were left lonely, abandoned, indigent or without a residence to meet their daily needs. In many cases the state pension they receive is not enough to cover decent housing and food, so they end up living on the street.

Mensajeros de la Paz offers 50 elder adults the home San jose with nurses, cooks, daily activities and socialization. Not only does this program meet their everyday needs but also cures the issue of loneliness and abandonment with its welcoming community. San Jose protects the rights of the elderly by ensuring that they receive medical care and necessities while retaining independence.

Long-Term Impact

San Jose is a place that has honored the tradition of respecting and caring for the elder adults for more than 80 years. Mensajeros de la Paz and the home have the objective of recovering the life histories of these older adults and thus be able to restore to them the dignity that they should never have lost.
