In Soacha's vulnerable Cazuca area, "El Cheto" is more than a bus - it's a bridge to opportunity. Facing violence, poor infrastructure, and mobility barriers, over 1,000 children rely on it to safely access sports, arts, tech, and leadership programs with Tiempo de Juego. This campaign supports keeping El Cheto running, so it can continue carrying dreams, skills, and hope to Colombia's most excluded communities.
Soacha is one of Colombia's most populated municipalities and one of the most affected by multidimensional poverty, also, is compounded by high levels of structural violence, and limited access to social services. In this environment, many youth face serious difficulties getting safely from their homes to the various locations where TDJ operates. This reality disproportionately affects girls and young women, who are more exposed to street harassment, sexual abuse, theft, and threats.
In response to this context, TDJ developed an integral solution rooted in the heart of the community: "El Cheto", a community transport bus adapted to the logistical and social needs of its beneficiaries. It reflects the emotional and practical bond built over the years. Thanks to its operation, hundreds of children can regularly attend football practices, tech workshops, cultural activities, and leadership and environmental education sessions.
Saving El Cheto means investing in the future of hundreds of children and young people in Soacha. Its continued operation ensures not only consistent access to programs that boost talents, skills, and self-esteem-but also offers a safe, community-based transport alternative. Over 1,000 direct beneficiaries per month, including students, coaches, families, and volunteers will continue secure and we will reduce risks of gender-based violence.
