Development of Village Education (DOVE) intends to provide education support for 60 children from marginalized families in the backward villages of Thoothukudi District of Tamil Nadu in India. The area is typical rural one with more number of villages located around. People are mostly daily wage earners. Hence this project covers the entire education cost of 60 disadvantaged children from this area for one year.
Challenge Sathankulam Taluk in Thoothukudi District is a dry belt with successive failure of monsoons and poor development activities. Vast stretches of land remains barren for barren for want of rains and irrigation activities. Earning opportunities are almost nil with no infrastructure and job giving industries. People are mostly coolies, Palmyra tappers, and agriculture labourers. A section of the people ekes out a living by selling milk from milch animals.

They will be motivated and finish school years in an energetic way. There is every chance of their education to continue and their future is safe with good chance of getting decent job and earning. They will move away from the hard manual labour of their parents.
Long-Term Impact The future of 60 children is ensured by helping them get quality education. They will be an example and more children will go to school instead of work places. The sufferings of the families in hard manual labour will replace good earning opportunities in the future for the 60 children. The value of education and the benefits will be felt in the rural villages of our area.
