RG Apprentices Can't Stop Learning!

Maudernise is ready for 2014!
Maudernise is ready for 2014!

2014 is already shaping up to be a wonderful year for REBUILD globally’s Apprenticeship Program. Thanks to your support, 20 amazing young men and women are thriving due to the educational scholarships, academic tutoring, and vocational training provided by the program. To complement their studies these youth meet at the REBUILD shop every Saturday to learn valuable artisan, business, and leadership development skills.

This year’s students are so motivated that they have requested to extend their Saturday program by an hour each week to include English language instruction! These classes are taught by none other than RG accountant, Brunel Zamor, who also works as the principal of a local English school. The dedication and determination of these young people to learn and improve their futures are unprecedented in RG history and truly inspiring.

In addition to learning English and completing their schoolwork, our artisan Apprentices are also busy focusing to become future members of the REBUILD sandal making team. To build their creative skills they recently completed a project to beautify the RG boutique with their original artwork, bringing much deserved visibility to their talents and hard work.

These young people are truly remarkable. Like most teenagers in Port-au-Prince our Apprentices face struggles with adequate nutrition, safe housing, disease, clean water, gang violence, and teenage pregnancy. Many of them live in tent camps or small tin structures, yet that does not stifle their desire to grow and learn. REBUILD globally provides support and opportunity to these vulnerable youth so that they may build a better life for them and their loved ones.

Your support makes it possible for REBUILD globally to offer a safe haven of learning, mentorship, and hope for young people in Haiti. We want to thank you for your generosity and kindness. Please consider continuing your support of REBUILD globally and these amazing young people in Port-au-Prince. You are not only investing in these 20 Apprentices, you are helping build a movement in Haiti of young, educated leaders with the ability to change their lives and the lives of others in their community. Hear more stories of these remarkable individuals by liking REBUILD globally on Facebook or following us on Twitter. Please consider purchasing a pair of REBUILD globally sandals by checking out our online store.

With great love and thanks,
The REBUILD Team
