We are located in Rajnandgaon District of Chhattisgarh (india) since 2001. We have so far worked with under privileged children in Dongargarh Block at Rajnandgaon district. With the support and encouragement of local community of Village Kothitola we started Adiwashi Shishu Vidya Mandir (School of Underprivileged chileren) in 2002. We always aimed to provide affordable education to children in Kothitola and surrounding 20 villages. 200 tribal children currently studies in this school year 2017
The underprivileged children of India are currently burdened with major issues like child labor, undernourishment, lack of shelter, education and hygiene. More than 50% of India's children are malnourished and 50% of Indian children aged 6-18 do not go to school. 17 million children in India work as per official estimates. These children have a bleak future with no opportunity to learn and succeed in life as so many of them don't have a place they can call home.
This project identifies children in need and provides them with their basic needs in order for them to succeed. They get a chance to attend a quality school that teaches, prepares, and encourages them to realize their dreams and pursue promising careers. They also receive after-school tutoring if extra academic help is needed. In addition to an education, children who are in most need may also receive assistance for food, shelter, and basic supplies to ensure they are cared for.
This project will help 200 poor children receive a good education for a whole year. Children who would likely grow up illiterate, oppressed, and stuck in extreme poverty will have the chance to rise up and become resourceful contributors to their society. Older students who have been helped through this project have moved on to pursue higher education and now enjoy careers in teaching, nursing, counseling, computers, and various trades so they can give back to the community in meaningful ways.
