Children living in slums and urban poor settlements, specially habitats characterized by civic authorities and government as non notified or unauthorized slums are often more deprived and have no access to education despite all these provisions and schemes with limited and poor facilities at government primary schools. Although the capital city has a comparatively high literacy rate compared to rural areas and other districts Education For All remains an elusive dream, particularly for urban poor

The initiative will dovetail its support in providing facilities in the intervening schools as well as through the establishment of strong School Management Committees as envisaged under Right to Education Act 2009.

Long-Term Impact

By end of the project, the children between 6-14 years of age living in 10 intervening slums will have access to quality education as enshrined under Right to Education Act 2009 in India and achieve minimum learning level.
