The number of people with Disabilities in Kenya is estimated at 3.8 million. According to the Ministry of Education in its National Special Needs Education, school age going children with Learning Disabilities form the largest group of handicapped children in Kenya accounting for 5% of the total number of handicapped children.
Between the years, 2006 and 2010, 300 children were assessed as having learning disabilities. Out of these, 100 (33.3%) dropped out of school in Kisumu East sub county
By supporting the girls to be in school, they will acquire the necessary educational and personal development skills. These will make them have employability skills as well a life skills to manage the competitive world
The project will educate 150 disabled rural orphaned girls to realize their dreams in life and be leading examples to others.
