SAFE PLAY FOR LITTLE ONES

By Yolande Delport | Project Director

No fencing between busy road and playground
No fencing between busy road and playground

The New Year is nearly two months old and packed with promises to resolve pressing challenges at the Ibhabhathane Community Centre.

The biggest and most costly challenge we are facing is to fence in our playground. The Centre takes care of 36 little children form age 1-5 years old – and as you know, little children are like jelly, they wobble here, wobble there and before you know they are in the street running after a ball, completely unaware of dangerous traffic. At present the playground offers no fencing between a busy street and the patch of grass the children are using as a playground.

Not only will a fence protect our children but also allow child minders to give quality attention to outside activities.

The staff and children are very keen to start a permaculture vegetable garden which will greatly supplement our nutrition programme but up to now this has only been a vision as the reality is munched up by roaming pigs, sheep and goats.

The area to be fenced in equals’ 1200square metres which will cost $1500-$2000 - less than $2 a square metre! We would like to see the area fenced in during the first semester of this year and would urgently urge you to join us in this project. A great way to make sure a little child has a safe place to play.

Thank you for your incredible support

We look forward to hearing from you

Our warmest greetings
