A very warm greeting to all our GlobalGiving friends,
The staff and children of The Ibhabhathane just have to let you know how awesome your support has been during the GlobalGiving challenge and how it helped our project.
Our little school is housed in a very dilapidated old building with holes in the ceilings and missing floor boards in the floor. Although previous funding allowed us to mend a bit here and there, it was really The GlobalGiving Challenge that allowed us to make the improvements we so desperately needed.
The gaps in the floor were an accident waiting to happen, causing tiny feet to trip over and little children to get badly hurt. Furniture was more of a hazard as it was a challenge to get everything to balance and the possibility of a cupboard or shelves toppling over and hurting someone was very real.
We are very proud to say however that with your wonderful giving we have eliminated this hazardous obstacle. Dads and Grandfathers from the community came together, removed the rotten floor boards and replaced with a solid rubble foundation floor with a mortar topping. So no more holes and wobbly cupboards, instead there is a very lovely and safe classroom filled with activities that young children can easily engage in.
The donations also allowed for the purchasing of poles and fencing material. Not only will we be able to grow vegetables once the fence is up, which will keep the livestock out, but as well and more importantly fence our playground in. There is no barrier at present between the main road to the location and the area we are using as a playground. We feel greatly relieved that this problem is being attended to and that we will all be enjoying a safe and stimulating outside play area very soon!
Thank you for taking the time and effort to support our project and creating potential for others that have so little to grow and develop.
Our most sincere thanks
Yolande
