One small seed in a garden story

By Yolande Delport | Project Leader

Little seedlings waiting to go
Little seedlings waiting to go

Dear Friend of the Ibhabhathane,

Since our last report our garden has blossomed. Marigolds are chasing away devious bugs and slugs are making cosy homes under cabbage leaves. We are picking, chopping and munching away. From the garden straight to the plate ensuring our children have the freshest of vegetables and no nasty chemicals!

And our garden fewer has spilled into the homes of our parents and grandparents, so much so that on October 29th our village had its first Garden Competition organised by The Ibhabhathane Community Centre and community worker, Cary. Thirty households entered for the best food, flower and creative garden. The outcome was spectacular. The smallest of spaces transformed into food providing sources, flowers sprouting and rambling plants hiding not so pretty fences, trellises and pergolas made from locally sourced material.

Thirty families, are now picking fresh produce, and putting food on the table!

Donations from our donors have enabled us to share seedlings, labour and tools. We could employ our own gardener once a week and buy more seed! Your contribution has become an investment!

We thank you sincerely for your continuous support and now for even more spectacular news!

On November 29th, Global Giving will be matching every donation doesn’t matter how big or small by 50%! Here is a super chance to make your contribution make a huge difference! Only one day! Spread the news and like our Page on Facebook!

I am including a list below to assist you further.

Employment of gardener per month                         : $150

To purchase fencing and bush cutter                       : $100

Montessori Sensory and Real Life Material              : $30

Warmest greetings

Yolande
