Feed & Teach 34 children age 0-4 in S/Afr village

Since our last report, we have converted our ever so crowded and chaotic home corner into a place where our children can come and set a table for breakfast, arrange flowers, help themselves to cereal in their own time and prepare a snack when they feel like it. They pour, slice, mix and spread all by themselves. It is absolutely wonderful to see. They wash their own dishes and pack away. Their teacher has more time to dedicate to other activities while her children are gaining wonderful life skills.
With the funding we have received from GlobalGiving new containers and materials for our classroom were bought as well as seeds for our vegetable garden. We are looking forward to having the one vegetable patch enclosed by end of November and to realise training as soon as programs are available.
We thank you for the enormous contribution we have received of late, I cannot begin to tell you how much relief it has brought us.
The Ibhabhathane has been nominated for a second award by the Department of Social Development, the Charlotte Maxeke Excellence Awards, and it is thanks to all our sponsors and donors and their support of what we are doing that results in nominations for awards such as these.

Dear Friend of the Ibhabhathane,

Wow, we are super excited! Obtaining government training for our Early Childhood Development workers has been a huge stumbling block. We therefore started investigating in alternative training possibilities as training is essential to ensure that our children get the best quality care during this critical window period of human development. Especially in the poorest of areas where education is so neglected and the evils of poverty persists to prevail in its on-going-backwards journey.

After some research and implementing some of the Montessori ideas it was just astounding to see how  our children’s concentration improved, fine motor co-ordination developed while learning practical life skills and how positively the little ones respond to the well-organised and self-regulating activities.

Training though, is very expensive and we will call upon all possible support we can, to assist us in attaining our goal. We do realise that current economic times are tough and how carefully resources must be allocated to be effective. We have constructed a list, in order to assist you to contribute to our project, should you wish to do so, by means that will be affordable and doable for you.
