Volunteers Welfare for Community Based Care of Zambia - VOWAZA runs two community schools for orphans and vulnerable children in George Compound of Lusaka district and Chibombo district in Central province of Zambia, and supports several primary schools in surrounding slums. This project will provide all pupils of our two community schools with a simple, free meal, and donates school uniforms to the very poorest of children.
Despite government's effort to enable everybody access education through introducing universal primary education (UPE) some children in Chibombo and George Compound of Zambia failed to continue with education, this is because they can't afford scholastic materials such as uniforms books pencils feeding and other necessities of life.
VOWAZA provide community education, nutrition, medicine and health care services to disadvantaged children in a self-mobilized community. By providing education and supplemental food to orphans and vulnerable children, quite simply we provide hope for the future.
The daily, nutritious meal will led to an increase of the number of pupils as well as a significant improvement of school results at the schools involved. VOWAZA will help pave the way for a brighter future for these children and for Zambia.
