Every year, thousands of children are left to sit at home or in backyard creches with little to no education. During this critical stage, they sit stagnant. Their teachers lack the training and tools to prepare them. Botshabelo is passionate about transforming their stories. Partner with us to empower 150 women to uplift the standard of education in 50 Gauteng preschools in 2020 through training, educational resources, and mentoring support. Together, we give 2500 children a brighter future!
In impoverished communities across South Africa, untrained teachers take care of thousands of children each weekday. Within the cramped, crumbling rooms of backyard creches, the teachers lack even the basics of paper and crayons with which to teach their children. Frustrated, they sit for long hours, unable to uplift themselves or educate their students. For the good of the women teaching in these schools and their students, there is a pressing need for effective upliftment solutions.
The UpliftED Training Programme began in 2011, uplifting creches into quality preschool centres in townships across Gauteng (Olievenhoutbosch, Atteridgeville, Ivory Park, etc.) We provide weekly training for the teachers of each centre per stage (a course for Kindegarten / Grade R teachers, a course for baby class teachers, etc.). We provide educational resources as tools for educating the children. We mentor and support the teachers in their own classrooms for effective implementation.
Every year, 2 500+ children will receive a stronger educational foundation, preparing them for success as they move into and through their primary schooling. They will be able to take pride in their school, sparking a love for learning in the children. Through the empowerment of education, these children will move into the future with more opportunities opened to them. The teachers/principals at preschools within the UpliftED programme will be empowered to build their skills and confidence.
