Dear Friends and Supporters of Global Family Village Nepal
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to you all for your continued support to our “Educate Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Nepal” project being implemented for last six years. At this point of time, on one hand we are still continuing our support to the children living in Bungamati Family House, and on the other hand, we have extended our project to a new community.
Anita and Shakti received power glasses
As a part of the regular health check up all five children living in Bungamati Family House were taken to Nepal Eye Hospital in Kathmandu for their eye check up. After a thorough eye screening and vision test two children (Anita and Shakti) living in the family house were found having problem of low vision. As advised by the Ophthalmologist, who was involved in the screening of children’s eyes both of them received a pair of power glasses. In a question about how do they feel after having a pair of glasses both Anita and Shakti mentioned that they can see the things more clearly now and they are happy about that.
Expansion of GFV Model of Childcare in Nuwakot district
After the successful implementation of its childcare program in Bungamati, Lalitpur, GFV is replicating the model in Samundra Devi Village in Nuwakot—one of the adjoining districts of Kathmandu Valley.
GFV-N has partnered with Lama Tole Kriyashil Mahila Samuha (LTKMS)—a women’s group, which is proactively working against the use of alcohol, wife battering and gambling in the village. Several rounds of meetings were held between the GFV-N and the women’s group in course of identifying the local partner to implement the program. The GFV-N board members have also paid visits to the project site and observed the situation and discussed with the local people, especially members of the women’s group, local teachers, School Management Committee members, local political and social work leaders. The members of LTKMS group also paid a visit to GFV-N’s first project site—Bungamati to learn more about GFV Model of childcare. In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and an agreement between GFV-N and LTKMS have been signed to implement the program in Samundra Devi Village, Nuwakot. After signing the papers the LTKMS group mentioned that they are excited to partner with GFV-N so that they can make their village a better place to live for everyone including orphaned and abandoned children.
Namaste!
