Educate 100 Orphaned Children Working in Agrifarms

by Human Development International NGO

Orphaned children especially girls in the rural homes are vulnerable and desperate for help. Many rural families can only offer them food in return for labour in their rural farms. The girls are sexually exploited and are forced to work in the farms. The boys are sent into the fields to work in the farms too in the name of "helping them". This is often done by close relatives who should be their best support pillars but unfortunately exploit their situation.
total goal

Many school going children (age3-10) in rural Kitui , who loose their parents mainly through HIV/AIDS, have an almost 0% chance of attending formal education. This is because the people are poor, they entirely depend on rain fed agriculture and rains fail once in every 2 years, making this the biggest problem. These children without parents have therefore no chance of getting education because their priority is food. They are therefore exploited in the farms and abused in return for food.

HDI Kenya a local NGO based in Kitui Kenya has started a program to support this children by removing them from peoples farms and allowing them to receive formal education for their own future and so they can support themselves. HDI is securing admission for them in government schools, providing them with scholastic materials, uniforms and books and donating a small irrigation kit for their kitchen garden to ensure they have a continuous supply of food to consume daily and 1 dairy goat for milk

Long-Term Impact

A minimum of 100 totally orphaned children per year will have a formal education and Education is the only way to conquer poverty. They will have a decent living and strive to pass that on to other generations. They will complete school and have a different perspective of life and have a long term positive impact to their community
