EIP during play time
It has been a blessed start of the year for us as we continue to reach out and share our work with the parents and the community. Activities for the past 3 months include:
Coffee Session on 21st February 2014
Parents from our EIP Groups 1 & 3 organised the event. They each brought a meal to share with other parents from other groups/programmes. It was a fun-filled time as they share stories and life experiences with one another as well as encouraging each other in their walk with their child.
Parents Support Group on 23rd March 2014
Our guest speaker is Dr. Alefiya Nomanbhoy, Assistant Professor in Special Needs and Director of Postgraduate Taught Programmes at the School of Education, University of Nottingham, Malaysia Campus. Emphasis on the topic shared was on behaviour management i.e. “Using an Intervention Continuum to Manage Behaviours”.
In this session, participants were taught on how to identify a problem behaviour, understanding it and subsequently finding solutions to manage it. It was an enlightening session as it gives us a better understanding of managing and teaching our students/children more effectively.
YAP outing to TESCO Melaka on 14th April 2014
Our young adult trainees and their instructors went to the shopping mall via the public bus. They each bought groceries on their respective shopping list and had lunch together before heading back to the centre. They had lots of fun during the outing and enjoy the time spent with their friends and instructors.
As to-date our centre has 17 students in EIP, 5 students in SAP and 8 trainees in YAP supported by staff force of 4 teachers for EIP & SAP, 4 trainers for YAP, an administrator and a centre manager.
We are grateful for your continuous support and encouragement to our work throughout the years. It has been a blessing to our centre as well as in touching the lives of those who are in need.
