The Preschool child friendly spaces project will initially support 20 selected Preschools (early childhood education centers) in the North Eastern province with easy access to resources such as learning materials, enhancement of Physical resources, formulation of Parents committee, technical support to formulate the catchment area mapping and allowance for the teachers in the rural schools.
Over the time, the North Eastern Province has been affected by emergencies, including conflicts, the 2004 tsunami and seasonal floods. The 4-decade old civil unrest and devastating disasters have entirely cluttered the social fabric of the North Eastern Province negatively impacting on the socio-cultural and educational set ups of the provinces. Poverty & Malnutrition of the children below the ages of 5 is also a serious issue in the North eastern province.
This project aims to achieve the following specific objectives: Enhanced learning environment in preschools that promotes preschool attendance and learning; Improved teaching methodologies in preschools that enhance required learning Competencies. Improved availability of high quality materials for teaching and learning in preschools in the rural areas.
The Parents committee and the Preschool management committee established through this project shall monitor and administer the functions of the preschools. All the Preschools will be developed a Parents committee guideline and it will be followed every year where new students and parents come afresh.
