According SOS Senegal's surveys, Senegal has 30 000 orphans representing 31.5% of the young population. Among the social strata most affected by poverty, children orphans are the weakest victims exposed to tough social difficulties. Orphans targeted in this project are suffering from concerns such as: school dropout, sexual abuse, child labor, lack of food and health, inability to pay for school supplies or training fees for those who cannot return to school.
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the World": said Nelson Mandela. Strongly believing in this Mandela's powerful thought, Association Jeunesse Espoir has chosen to effectively help orphans by: maintaining or returning orphans to school, enrolling orphans in vocational training and facilitating their economic integration after training, offering health coverage, follow-up and psychological support guaranteeing a good academic performance.
The project will enable 75 orphans in Saint-Louis of Senegal to have access to health, education, vocational training and economic integration or find decent job after Training. This assistance will fight the inequity and discrimination faced by orphans and will put them in the right conditions to succeed in securing a brighter future and pave their way out of poverty to economic independence.
