Las Marias Education is a newly-set community project in one of the poorest regions of Argentina - Chaco, the Impenetrable. By early 2020, we plan to provide free education, health care and a balanced daily meal to 300 children in this region. Our vision is to give these children a chance to change their future and of their communities. We strive to empower children and their families to enable them to break out of a life of poverty.
The Impenetrable Chaco, is a densely-forested eco-region with tribal pockets, where indigenous communities have traditionally lived from hunting, fishing and basic agriculture. But deforestation, introduction of cattle and the introduction of alien crops has caused a climatic imbalance. Threatened by severe flooding (due to deforestation), these tribes are in a situation of extreme precariousness, with food, health and sanitary conditions typical of a humanitarian disaster.
Help 300 unprivileged children reach their personal and intellectual development in a school located in a poverty-stricken Chaco area. Project will provide (i) formal education + extracurricular activities (students aged 3-14); (ii) daily balanced diet, cooked at the school, for students and staff; (iii) healthcare at outpatient clinic in the school premises (prevention+ diagnosis+ treatment, for students and community members). Holistic approach to help communities break the cycle of poverty.
Our work will lead to better health, greater career choice, long term financial stability and a real chance of self sufficiency for the tribes. We believe that by effective intervention in eco-preservation, food and supplies management, use of tradition knowledge and skills, and education of children, we can rid the tribal communities of poverty and hunger. We will ensure students get essentials prerequisites for effective learning. We work on integrated development of communities.
