This project plans to educate 200 student with special needs from rural areas in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state on computer and internet literacy to help them live in a world of possibilities by using a computer with access to the internet; they can increase their knowledge, learn and study even at their homes. Therefore, all students can be placed on equal footing to get the necessary education. Additionally, they will be equipped with computer skills that are needed in the labour market.
There is an alarming number of disable children in rural communities that lacked access to basic education. According to our research, there is 270,000 disable children in Uyo, Akwa state and only 10,000 out of 270,000 have access to basic education. This is because there is only one school for children with special need in the entire state.
The training will recruit ICT professionals to form a stellar team and will be taught in a sequence for easy understanding. The training will be carried out with the use of computers with access to the internet By learning computer and internet literacy, students with special need who lack access to basic education can now live in a world of possibilities by using a computer; they can study even at home. Therefore, all students can be placed on equal footing to get the necessary education.
The project will educate 200 students with special need on computer and internet literacy, which will help them rise out of illiteracy and access basic education using a computer with internet access to learn and study even at their homes. Additionally, they will be equipped with computer skills that is need in labour market. When they are Educated, they will help other students with special need in their community to access basic education by educating them on computer and internet literacy.
