Many are victims of gender-based violence and torture with limited access to justice and support. They are also victims of 23 year war rapes and abuses in Northern Uganda, HIV/AIDS, unwanted pregnancies and divorce. They are seen ignored and suppressed in the society, deprived to own property and living in poor grass thatch houses without basic necessities of life. With these sufferings many are committing suicides, dying of hunger, anger and common diseases.
Rural widows and single mothers who are survivors of 23 year war, gender-based violence and HIVAIDS will have access to counseling, therapy, justice and adequate health services. There will be intensive public awareness campaign on rape and sexual assault and others abuses on women, network of violence prevention and human rights aid to the beneficiaries. Women will be equipped with entrepreneurship, modern skills & agriculture for food security status & vocational skills for women
This project empowers widows and single mothers to gain resilience on difficult situations in life while seeking rightful sustainable solutions. They will be engaged in gainful income generating activities, small scale enterprises, Village Saving and Loan Association (VSLA) practices, improved agriculture and food security intervention. Decrease of gender based violence and other abuses on women, poverty, food insecurity, HIVAIDS, suicides and death cases.
