This project seeks to create a new move in ways interventions are done towards the survivors of disasters in DRC, it aims at linking emergency relief aid to development activities through the fight against poverty as lasting solution. This project will be a model of economic recovery to the survivors in Bushushu and Kalehe in order to become more independent and start a new live full of hope and optimism. We just want to support them economically so that they can solve their problems themselves.
There are currently more than 10,000 survivors in Kalehe, The main problem we want to address is the extreme poverty among the survivors of the disaster in Bushushu and Nyamukubi who are living in small plastic tents and lost all what they have. They are exposed to all forms of risks such as diseases, psychological trauma, lack food, shelter, education and cannot afford to get money in order to solve their basic needs. We believe that poverty is the main problem to solve now.
The project will give them business starting capital grant, it will boost Income Generating Activities of those who are resilient by accessing grant. For example you have a business of 100$, we shall add you another 100$. This project will also train and help those intending to start Income Generating Activities and lastly this project will focus on skill development among the survivors of Bushushu and Nyamukubi, in Kalehe, South Kivu-DRC
In long-term the survivors will be able to: Leave the Camps in order to buy land or hire houses somewhere else through their own money, They will build individual economies that can resist shocks in terms of disasters through Banking, They solve their urgent economic needs and offer education, health services among other to their dependents, This project will be a model in order to help others in the same situations in DRC,
