The earthquake damages homes, basic services and productive and economic capacities. Homes and basic services are in recovery and resilience capacities have been strengthened in the face of disasters. with the project we propose to support the recovery of productive and economic activities, by promoting alternatives that contribute to productive diversification. We propose to promote a cocoa crop interspersed with coffee and fruit trees interspersed with corn cultivation
Food is based on the cultivation of corn, beans, squash and various wild plants. Every 3 years they change their plot, they do it with the tomb, slash and burn method, leaving the soils uncovered and exposed to erosion, increasing vulnerability and coping with earthquakes are the main cause of slope landslides. Coffee production complements the economy of families and provides resources for other family expenses. These plantations have reduced their productivity due to pests.
In the corn plots we will develop a demonstration plot with training in soil and water management and the intercropping of perennial fruit trees and to turn them into permanent plots. In the future, extract vegetative material from fruit trees for the establishment of new plots. In coffee plots, train for a nursery of cocoa plants for subsequent planting interspersed in coffee plantations. Later to move towards processes of beneficiation and transformation in chocolate.
Improve incomes by productive diversification with fruit trees and cocoa, sedentary corn crop, reduce risks of soil erosion and landslide, soil stabilization and productive water management, reduce vulnerabilities.
