This project will provide relevant economic and livelihood support to 50 vulnerable women within major IDP dense areas in Bamenda Northwest region of Cameroon. Support within this project takes the form of direct 50 business creation and promotion via the provision of start-up kits and capital, as well as business training and the provision of real-time technical support to victims of the on going Anglophone crisis that has kept at least 225,516 IDPs (OCHA 2022)
According to UN OCHA 2nd October 2022 report, over 1 million people displaced and spread across the country, While at least 567,673 people need shelter in the NW, including 264,213 returnees, 225,516 IDPs, and 77,944 non-displaced people (OCHA 7th December 2022) and economic assistance. Reported GBV cases within the region has gone up drastically with most survivors being women as they struggle to meet up with life demanding challenges majority became commercial sex workers.
SeReP provides relevant economic and livelihood support to vulnerable women within major IDP dense areas in the NW region of Cameroon, in a drive to provide them with a better living condition and a chance to a better life as there will be a drop in prostitution and drastic fall in too much dependency by the woman which reduce the rate of gender based violence in the area.
This project will train 50 women on various small scale income generating activities and subsidizing them with start-up capital allowing them to rise out of poverty, which will provide for their families' health and well-being. The project will also pull off some young women who were offering themselves as commercial sex workers from the streets and also reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
