Due to crowded living at the Bonnie Memorial Children's Home (BMCH) for orphans of Ebola in Sierra Leone, it's time to expand! Construction is underway, but more funds are still needed to finish the project.
Close to 4,000 children in Sierra Leone have lost one or both parents to Ebola. Thousands of children are now orphaned with nowhere to go. Even identifying the orphaned children is incredibly challenging, requiring close partnership with coordinators on the ground in Sierra Leone. While there are many non-profits and agencies working on Ebola, Touch the Nations is leveraging 10 years of work in country to build an orphanage and provide care for the youngest victims of this crisis.
This project will expand a children's home to care for an additional 10-15 orphans impacted by Ebola. The funds raised here will allow for the building of the third floor of the orphanage, as well as the resources to continue to support the orphans through shelter, food, clothing, and education.
Orphanages and childrens' homes like this one are necessary to help rebuild Sierra Leone and provide for children's basic needs after the trauma of losing parents. This will help the community and improve the lives of countless numbers of children without parents.
