IMCRA Team at Fukushima
IMCRA IS GROWING AND ADAPTING
The overwhelming triple disaster of earthquake, tsunami and radiation leak in Tohoku, Japan is now two and a half years in the past. IMCRA and its partners have striven during this time to provide the best and most easily-accessible educational resources to both medical professionals and the public. Our work in Japan continues with another colloquium on Caregiver Experience this October, and the publication of Proceedings from several conferences this Fall.
However, as the needs of afflicted communities in Tohoku become less acute, the trememndous learning experience Japan has provided can be now applied elsewhere as needed.
In June and July, our IMCRA colleagues, Ng Thuy, Reny Juita, Joe Chang and George Witter initiated programs in Vietnam (respiratory medicine), Indonesia (perinatal medicine), China (disaster medical logistics / juvenile diabetes) and the USA (PTSD in the wake of the Boston and Newtown massacres).
In helping caregivers attending these populations, IMCRA has selected the best of its faculty and its programs. With the launch of our newly-enhanced and interactive learning center this month, both medical professionals and an interested public will find a confidential, free and informed resource for many of the hard questions and issues they are facing.
