PROGRESS REPORT NO 11 - 13 JUNE 2016
SUBJECT: PROJECT REPORT FOR EDUCATE A CHILD CHANGE A LIFE

ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION 2016:
The Annual Prize Distribution was held on 16th April 2016 at the school premises. Students who secured the first, second and third positions in their respective classes were given shields. Scholarships were awarded to fifteen outstanding students. Brig. Muhammad Zahir Malik, President Cantonment Board Clifton and Pakistan Army Station Commander Karachi was the chief guest. Brig Malik appreciated the noble task undertaken by the Trust for providing quality education to the children of underpriviliged families and recommended that every one should help the Trust in their effort to expand their activities. He assured the Trust his full support and assistance for this purpose. He mentioned that in the Holy Quran there is a great stress on good upbringing and education of children .
Adm. Sajjad Akbar the Chairman of the Trust informed that an English Medium school started in one room in 2003 with 24 children has expanded to 19 rooms, 12 classes with 215 children and the second branch at Junejo Town has 5 classes with 93 students.
Ms. Shamim Akhtar, the Headmistress thanked all the participants for attending the function which is a source of encouragement for the management, staff and students of the school.
DSRA TRUST SCHOOL DISTRIBUTE RAMZAN RATIONS 2016:
The Trust School has been giving Eid clothes and cash Eidi to all their students and Ramzan Rations to their parents every year for Ramzan. The Ramzan Rations and cash for Eid clothes were distributed to the parents of 225 students of the Defence Branch at Askari Markaz on 31 May 2016 and 02 June 2016 respectively. Similarly the cash for Eid clothes and Ramzan Ration were distributed to the parents of 101 students of Junejo Town Branch on 26 May 2016 and 01 June 2016 respectively.
Admiral Shahid Karimullah NI(M) SJ, former chief of Naval Staff graced the occasion on 31 May 2016 and Mrs. Sabiha F.I Sheikh graced the occasion on 01 June 2016. The Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the Trust to help the families of students to celebrate Ramzan and Eid.
REMEDIAL CLASSES FOR WEAK STUDENTS 2016:
In Summer Vacation DSRA Educational and Welfare Trust School held Remedial classes for weak students from Class KG to Class VIII and regular classes for Class IX & X from 20th May till 4th June 2016 from 8:30 am till 11:30 am. During these classes teachers covered the weak area of the students in Maths, English, Science and Urdu.
WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS 2016:
DSRA Educational & Welfare Trust school held the Workshop byTeachers Resource Centre (TRC) which was conducted by Mrs. Rubina Naqvi on “Effective Teaching” on 6th and 7th June 2016 from 9 am to 12 noon which was attended by the 18 Staff Members of both branches of the school.
Objectives of the workshop were.
• Understand how the child’s mind develop.
• Become aware of the learning process and different learning style.
• Explore the elements of learning.
• Identify the cause of disruptive behaviour.
• Discuss management strategies to prevent misbehaviour in the classroom.
The workshop was very effective which gave guidence to the teachers. DSRA Educational & Welfare Trust school is very much thankful to Mrs. Rubina Naqvi for holding the important workshop and paying the cost to TRC for the workshop.

PROGRESS REPORT NO 10 - 15 MARCH 2016
SUBJECT: PROJECT REPORT FOR EDUCATE A CHILD CHANGE A LIFE

WINTER VACATIONS:
Both schools of Defence Branch and Junejo Town Branch remained closed for Winter Vacation and the schools re-opened on 1st January 2016. During vacation extra classes of Maths for Class X and extra coaching for the weaker students of other classes were organised.
NEW ADMISSION:
Admission Tests for Nursery class were held from 20th to 27th January 2016. 51 children registered for admission in Defence Branch were tested and 24 children on merit were selected. 26 children were registered in Junejo Town Branch and 16 children on merit were selected. The classes for Next Acadamic Year in both branches will start in April 2016.

ANNUAL FUNCTION (JUNEJO TOWN BRANCH):
Annual Function was held in Junejo Town Branch on 9th January 2016. The function was the first ever formally organised by the staff and students. Conscious effort was made to perform items which promoted the message of love, peace and tolerance. The confidence of the children and dedicated efforts of the teachers paid off and the function was a great success. The occasion was well attended by the parents of 73 students and 10 guests.
ANNUAL SPORTS DAY 2016:
The Annual Sports Day 2016 of the Trust School was held at the school premises on February 13, 2016. The Trust school has been holding regular sports for the students as it helps to develop a healthy and vibrant mind which helps in enhancing their team spirit, self esteem, confidence and descipline.

This year sports events were held for classes of Nursery to Class III. Various interesting events for sports and entertainment were organised. An impressive PT display was also presented.

On this occasion Mrs. Arifa Hasan Ahmed a founder Trustee of the Educational Trust and prominent Philanthropist and social worker was the chief guest. She applauded the efforts of the Trust for such a useful programme for the children of the low income group which will channelise the talent of the students in proper development of their personalities.

The chairman of the Trust Admiral Sajjad Akbar in his welcome address mentioned that the Trust is making continuous effort to improve the quality of education and organise curricular, extra curricular and sports activities.

The chief guest distributed certificates to the first 3 winners of each event.

DSRA TRUST SCHOOL PARTICIPATE IN CLEANLINESS AWARENESS DRIVE:
DSRA Trust School actively participated in DSRA CBC Cleanliness Awareness Drive on 06 March, 2016. The participants assembled at the CBC Park on Seaview Beach. After short speeches and national anthem played by a band, the walk with students of DSRA Trust school lead the procession. It was a happy festive occasion which was given good coverage by the media and shown live by various TV channels. It shows the walk was a great success and brought awareness of cleanliness in the area.


ANNUAL MEETING OF BOARD OF TRUSTEES:
The six monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on 20 February 2016. The Board approved the unaudited Financial Statement prepared by the Hon. Treasurer. The Board also approved Budget Expenditure upto 31st December 2015 and the Forecast for Expenditure during Jan-July 2016. The Board appreciated the increase in Net Asset including Capital Work In Progress of Rs 7.7 Million (US Dollar $ 770, 000) and tight control on the expenditure by the Managing Committee.
DONATION THROUGH GLOBALGIVING:
We have also received the donation of Rs 43,152.97 (approx US$430) remitted by GlobalGiving for which we are grateful to our donors and GlobalGiving.

PROGRESS REPORT NO 9 -  09 DECEMBER 2015

SUBJECT: PROJECT REPORT FOR EDUCATE A CHILD CHANGE A LIFE

 

MID TERM EXAM & MATRIC RESULTS:

Mid Term Exams for both schools were held from 17 October to 29 October 2015. The results were announced in the first week of November and results forwarded to Parents and Sponosors. In Matriculation Exams, the Trust was supporting 3 students which included 2 girls at DHA Tooba High School scored 85% and 69% and 1 Boy at Bahria Model School scored 71% marks.

MEETING OF MANAGING COMMITTEE:

The monthly meeting of the Managing Committee was held and approved the annual increment of the staff w.e.f 01 Aug, 2015. The expenditure on salary of staff is expected to be over $3,000 per month. The Annual Report 2015 was approved by the Committee and issued to all concerned.

 

MEETING OF BOARD OF TRUSTEES:

The six monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on 19 September 2015. The Board approved the Financial Statement prepared by a renowned firm of Chartered Accountants. The Board also approved Budget Variation Report for Financial Year 2014-15 and also approved Budget Forecast for FY 2015-16. It shows an expenditure of US $50,000 on education of students and does not include expenses on Fixed Assests including property, furniture, library, computer and generator etc. The Board also approved two Ex Officio Trustees recommended by the CEC of DSRA.

REGISTRATION OF SCHOOL:

The school was registered with education and Literacy Department Government of Sindh was approved for 3 years. The school has also applied for recognition by the Board of Secondary Education..

APPROVAL OF BUILDING FOR SECOND SCHOOL:

Sindh Building Control Authority has approved the Architectural and Structural Drawings for construction of the second school at Junejo Town. The building work has been started and is expected to be completed in one year.

MEHFIL-E-MILAD-UN-NABI:

The birth day of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.W.A.S) will be celebrated by holdind Mehfil-e-Milad-Un-Nabi for ladies on the afternoon of Tuesday 15 December 2015 at the school premises. Teachers and students of Class V to Class X will present Hamd, Naat, Recitation from Quran etc followed by a Dua.

SUBJECT: PROJECT REPORT FOR EDUCATE A CHILD CHANGE A LIFE

 

ANNUAL AUDIT FY 2014-15:

Annual Audit of acounts were carried out by a renowned firm of Chartered Accountants. The financial status of the Trust was satisfactory and the Net Assets increased due to donations received. The expenditure on education of 278 students was over Rs 3 Million (US $ 30,000)

RAMZAN GROCERIES & EID CLOTHES 2015:

As all the students are from low income families, the Trust has been helping the families by giving groceries for Ramzan to the parents and Eid Clothes to the students and staff of the school. The Ramzan groceries to Parents of all 270 students and 25 staff members in both schools and cash for eid clothes was given to all students.

 

EID GET TOGETHER 2015:

Eid Fun Fair was held in school on 5th September 2015. All students were given Rs 100 cash to spend at the Fun Fair. There were stalls of different games and eatables. Teachers arranged favourite eatables stalls and Horror House, Magic show and swings for the children. A large number of Parents also attended. It was great fun for everybody. It was a successful event which was arranged by all the teachers of the school.

SCHOOL MANAGEMENT SUB COMMITTEE:

The Meeting of the School Management Sub Committee was held on 25 August 2015 which was participated by 3 representatives of Parents and 3 Teachers. Various points concerning students progress and attendance were discussed. The other points of common concern, school activities and financial issues were also discussed.

PROGRESS REPORT NO 7 -  09 JUNE 2015

SUBJECT: PROJECT REPORT FOR EDUCATE A CHILD CHANGE A LIFE

 

The closing of the Financial Year on 30 June 2015 has created a lot of activities of preparation for the Audits by a firm of Chartered Accountants. The school is also closed for Summar Vacation from 01 June 2015 to 02 August 2015. During this period a Teachers Training Programme of short course in English Language and two weeks course in computer training for all Teachers has been arrangement. 3 weeks remedial classes for weak students is also being conducted. 9 students of Class IX appeared in examination held by the Board of Secondary Education.

ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION 2015:

Annual Prize Distribution was held on 11th April 2015 Air Marshal Salim Arshad was the chief guest. Prizes were given to students securing the first, second and third positions in their classes. Certificates of progress were given to 20 students who had shown a marked progress from their result in the Mid Year Exams to the Final Examination. Certificates of 100% Attendance were given to 26 students. Five students who had completed their Quran were given Rs 2,500/= each. Scholarships of Rs 5,000/= each were awarded to children of Classes VII, VIII, IX securing the highest marks in Maths and Science. English Scholarship was given to 2 students of Class III and 2 students of Class IV. Next year scholarships will also be given for Urdu, Islamiat, Pakistan Studies/Social Studies.

 

QUIZ COMPETITION 2015:

The Trust School held a Quiz Competition on 2nd May 2015. 24 students from Class V to IX participated. They were divided into 4 teams, A, B , C & D. The competition consisted of 4 rounds e.g group answers, individual answers, yes / no answers and guessing by seeing visuals. Team A was the winner. Ms. Simin Zuberi Ex Principal of Beaconhouse School System was the Chief guest and Ms. Tasneem Khowaja also Ex Principal Beaconhouse School System was the guest of honour. They were amazed by the standard of questions and quick responses by the children. They praised Mrs. Nasreen Akbar for keeping such a high standard in education, and all the teachers for preparing the students in such an excellant manner.
