The area suffers from a scarcity of drinking water because of its salty ground water. Most of the hand tube-wells in this area are inoperative because of presence of high levels of salt, arsenic and iron. There is high environmental vulnerability and high impact of climate change. Most of peoples specially women and children suffers from various diseases associated with inadequate safe water as diarrhoea, ascaris, dracunculiasis, hookwarm, schistosomiasis, trachoma, uterus and skin disease.
The project will provide rain water harvesting tank with installation to 150 ultra poor families free of cost those families are unable to purchase the tank at Bashbaria, vospatia, bashtoli villages of Rampal. Each family will receive 1,000 liter tank. During rainy session they will preserve the rain water safely and it will use 5-6 family members for drinking and cocking. The project will also provide water sanitation and hygiene training to women and children.
Through this project more than 800 ultra poor peoples will get safe drinking water facility and the project will help to achieve the SDG6 target of universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all and also substantially reduce the number of people suffering from water scarcity. It will have a positive impact on life and livelihood of women and children, health condition of the family members, education of children. Water born diseases and death will be reduced.
