World Food Crisis, brought about by the War!

New classroom blocks no plastered Walls
New classroom blocks no plastered Walls

To all OUR Sponsor's in UK and America.

Our sincerest tribute to the entire countries in the world and in particular United kingdom for the loss of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II of England.

Emotions have ran world-wide, Her loss has struck everyone who admired Her including our not known very poorest rural communities in Africa, Uganda and in particular disadvantaged children and the SHARE NGO Staff.

The attendance of the American President and other dignitaries brought historric color to the event, it' significantly gave meaning to our shared values in humanity, very importantly the millions of people around the globe who attended in person, sacrificing their time, to be their in person to condole with the royal family, we say thank you!

As Non-Profit Organization, we truly share in that pain and the loss of a Queen who cared to see that every individual, Nation live in prosperity, unity, is out of poverty, live a dignified life,Equity for all, and above all Her plans of Common Wealth Nations will stand out for generations.

TO ALL OUR DONOR'S!  (Letter of Love, Respect and Appreciations)

SHARE NGO and the Hammerslag School children and  Staff are very happy and proud of the progress and the good work and support the single recurring donations received are making in their lives, school and to the rural communities benefiting from your support as  follows:-

EDUCATION: (Classrooms Construction Assistance)

1. Construction of  New permanent Classrooms for disadvantaged children in Pallisa. In  2013-2016.  New classroom blocks were constructed and this have attracted a lot of children and as well as provided  a place or a home to shelter street orphaned, and most vulnerable children. Since then no such funds to build classroom has been received.

During that period, because of low prices then, we were able to buy uniforms for these disadvantaged children from supplus, and food and mats for them to use as their mattresses. The money was enough before prices short up to buy food and firewood and some medicine to help the staff and today, it's honestly difficult.

2. Hiring of and establishment of the Health facility, a Community Health Center as an intervention to support the fight against the out break of COVID-19 in 2019. Generally speaking, our benefiting children and their households are poverty striken, no better opportunities for access better health facilities.

In the year 2021 Many elderly persons lost their lives and many burials took place and we did  share some of this  loss and photos with our main donor Mother Loretta.

BREAKING NEWS! EBOLA IN UGANDA AGAIN.

Today 20/09/2022 in the news the ministry of health has reported and out break of Ebola in mubende district. Transportation (community service ambulances) is a need that would save many lives especially with the elderly people, and to date we are living in a community with no ambulance and our efforts can not provide one either. Health today has remained the most valued but most neglected if you do not live in an urban settings. Who cares if you get sick and can not be seen by the doctor, not body bothers and the poor lose their loved ones just like that.

During COVID-19 lockdown 2020/21, the situation was worse, elderly people who stay in thier homes alone  died in thier houses without any notice, it was smell, that got neighbor to know what happened to elderly person. Some or most didn't have food or anything to live upon.

LOCKDOWNS!

Community movements were restricted and only organization vehicles allowed to move. Our NGO didn't have the opportunity to own bicycle or a motor bike to send Staff to the field to check with the sick, COVID-19 cases, in the affected remote areas.

Our appeal to all donors out there, we request for an organization van, motor bikes or even just bicycle donations. This will help a great deal our field  staff, teachers and volunteers to work for our community effectively. Even if it's just to have one bicycle donations for the field staff to share and be able to visit the sick elderly people in the affected families, households and communities, it will bring yeild hope, positive and effective work efforts.

3. Cost of living in Uganda. (HIGH FOOD PRICES)

This is reflecting badly in our several spheres of life, Education, Health and Economic opportunity, especially with the poor. Majority of these are having one or no meal at all and yet they need education, health and money for their daily living and  other service's. eg prices have short up and  money has become a scarse or rear commodity to the most disadvantaged household's. Famine is visible in everyone's House and eye of needy children.

Food items such as beans, maize the common and main diet for all school is now not affordable, climate changes have made this next to impossible to find these food items in the market at the usual prices.

Today to feed one child for just one day on two meals at a boarding school needs one to have 50 dollar's. Here fuel prices set a center stage for pricing. Business owners decide what you pay for a food commodity depending on how far you are from the point of supplies. Far from the main road , deep in the village all this are contributor's to the price factor. Low,fair or high.

Households who depends on hand to mouse, are terribly suffering.Sugar is very helpful for the sick is nolonger affordable for the disadvantaged.

4. Scholastics Materials. (SCHOOL SUPPLIES)

We appreciate you all for the best wishes and help we continue to get and receive through monthly donations. This is making a great impact on the future of poor rural children educational needs.

However, the cost of living have as well pushed prices for the education materials very high and not affordable for the poor to afford..

During lockdown and COVID-19 period. Government was sending copies of study materials for all children and copies left at the district head office, and the school leadership was to pick and make photocopies and distribute by going to each home in different villages and towns to give each student copies to use for home study, it was a nother very difficult time for it's was very expensive for the school to print thousands of copies to get each child supported with study materials and reach out to every student in their homes. We walk on foot or ride a bicycle.

The business men again took advantage of this and raised the price of photocopies just one page x number of pages in the materials and the number of the student in a class and the entire student population in the school. Without you our dear donors nothing can be achieved. We appreciate you all.

New Teaching  carriculum materials, reader text for pupils, and chalkboard. School chalk are all very expensive to get. We would like to have balls to give children chance to play, enough teacher text books but all this get limited by the funding.

5. Classrooms and Toilets.

Today, the cost of building a good permanent classroom has gone up, the materials are very expensive and just one bag of cement is about 14 dollars depending on the town and location. How far or  near you are from the point of production. Cement factory.

2013-2016 DONATIONS!

From the previuos efforts and funding, We built two classroom blocks , and we have divided (partitions) this to make more classes to accomodate new, growing number of students joining and moving to the next classrooms.

A normal primary class system here has seven classes for a primary school after child is out of nursery class where they stay for one or two years to be passed to primary one class.

We have desired to build additional classrooms but we are not getting any donor interested, we have been active with only one family stretching their resources to share with the vulnerable communities and children. They have such a big heart, very accommodative. Kindly join this family and help build more classes for the disadvantaged children in Uganda. Your sacrifice will bring a lot of love and hope to children who would never see a blackboard or a chance to be at school to get a good future!

Your donations have bought new clothes for children who walked naked, and lived that life for years. We have evidence of such photos. Children get neglected, and it's organization like this who will come to their aid with your help.

If new donors come through and support, we plan to build more classrooms and dormitories. Help us.

OUR DONOR, MOTHER!

Mother Loretta and Her family have made a huge contribution towards the construction assistance for the existing classrooms we see in the old reports and they have continued to give recurring payments to get education materials for the disadvantaged children.

The life and servival of the organization, the school and the children have been because of the commitment and love of  her family to poorest rural children in Pallisa Uganda. Pallisa his one of the poorest districts in Eastern Uganda. Poverty has build it's head quarter in Pallisa. Nothing is normal in Pallisa ,and very little is known about this district, not tourist or attraction opportunities so that you will expect a visit drop by any time. The same is true with education, health and economic growth. Pallisa is the last district to get such support.

HAMMERSLAG SCHOOL CLASSES!

Just like any infrusture need repairs, renovations and service, The existing classrooms have their own challenges, first the door to the toilets, termites have eaten up the wood -'door frame's.

Also doors to the classrooms have their hinged broken, as you know children are always opening and closing the  doors. such damages are likely to happen. Some because some of curiosity, children have never seen metallic door frames and like to play with it. Teachers try to monitor but some times it may pass thier watch. We apologize for this destruction's coming out of our children.

All Classrooms walls need plastering and painted, we  have shared this need ever since the ministry of health officials visited the school and gave advise before and after COVID-19 affected the entire country. They said or advised that unplastered walls can keep burgs. Danger to students and teachers lives, and health.

In 2020 We got part of the inside walls plastered for all the class but the the cost of cement as getting high and  making it impossible to have the outer walls plastered. We need about 200 bags of cement about 2800 dollars and 150 jerricans to paint the existing classrooms.

STUDENTS DORMITORIES AND TEACHERS HOUSE.

Students and teachers live in very poor accomodations. The visit in November 2018,  from GLOBAL GIVING staff JAMIE and CHRIS got the opportunity to visit teachers rented housing, and this was a shock and bothered them alot how humans can live in such housing. This has dittered many interested and very good qualified teachers from coming to work. Because of poor housing for teachers. No toilet's, they have to walk back to school to share with the students.

Boarding children continue to sleep in the dirt classroom floors and we have had a very bad experience, when we lost three children  whom we had accommodated in unplastered classrooms. There's need to build a separate block for students accomodations and teacher's a house. We pray that such consideration will come over time from interested DONOR'S and  volunteers. This need is very critical and we ask for help on behalf of the needy and affected households.

6. Support Staff. (COOK, MATRON, WATCHMAN)

We have 3 such staff, the cook, matron (paid a monthly salary of 50,000/ Uganda shilling)s, and day and night watch man. We have no proper pay or salary to these helping hands and the GLOBAL Giving visitors saws this challenge and advised we make specific donor fundraising  project's including the improvement of the teachers monthly payment, at tacher is paid only 100,000/ a month (about 28 dollar's), this is paid in the month the school term is open. That means the teacher can get only 84 dollars a single school term, and 252 dollars a year. If the donations are regularly coming. This is possible. Again we have never gotten such commitment from any donor to help pay teachers effectively.

GlobalGiving Staff advice was to start a fundraiser for child support eg "GIVE DOREEN A SCHOOL SPONSOR" but we didn't get any success. What followed was the lockdown in 2020 .

7. NGO Support. "THE WORLD CRISIS BROUGHT ABOUT BY THE UKRAINE WAR"

SHARE, (Support for Households and Aid for Rural Education) is not  doing well due to lack of enough donations and volunteer support,

NGO Office rent is a struggle, we can not operate without an official address. This will not be tolerated  by the law and our government, we have to have a place of contact and check and evaluation. The owner of the property worked with civil aviation authority in Uganda, Entebbe international airport.  He tries very much to be patient with our payments but we are not always able to pay regularly.

We used to pay 150,000@/ about 42 dollars monthly  before priced short up country wide. Now we are required to pay 300,000/ (84 dollars) per month and this includes water and electricity.

8. Funds available. (RECURRING DONATIONS)

We believe God has been Good and one source to trust in our journey together. The donor family, especially Mother Loretta and Her daughter Jenna with her brothers and sisters, their family friends are God sent and a true blessing and inspiration to serve with. The benefiting children are always praying for you.(HAMMERSLAG SCHOOL UGANDA)

Just like any local or grassroots, SHARE NGO is faced with looming funding gabs. As a result, we get difficulties in the meeting the following obligations:-

a) URA annual returns. Taxes to government.

b) Board meetings, planning and evaluation.

c) Field staff facilitations, transportation allowances, includes stationary.

d) Water and electricity bills

e) Transportation facilitations for NGO staff and facilitate their travelling to Kampala for government engagements. Workshop and policy meetings for all national NGOs.

f) Construction assistance for new additional classrooms, teacher's house and toilets.

g) Construction of a community health facility, childrens, male and female Ward to help the poor rural household's.

Conclusion.

We appreciate you all for your kind support to the school,  and help to the rural and affected households in Uganda. We pray that more and more donors, volunteers join the handful of committed donors we have to keep our interventions very relevant to the lives of those suffering.

Most impotantly! We are still in shock!

The death of the QUEEN most MIGHTY and most EXCELLENT Elizabeth II of England. Some of our donors are close relatives or friends to the royal family.

We listened and followed the service on Small radio, we have no Television to watch the ceremony. "HISTORIC FAREWELL".

Our entire Staff and the children were very shocked to hear about the death of the Queen.

The bible quote. Plsams 42. Read in her service, was very touchy to all the students and staff.

Other very powerful messages that were shared such as:-

The Queen was a 'good and faithful servant' and knew that all humans flourish better when they live in community and harmony together.

Queen Elizabeth II, whose reign took Britain from the age of steam to the era of the smartphone, She was 96.

8 Sept 2022 — Donovan, who met the Queen, told PA Media: “She was so kind and gracious, and it's a sad day around the world”. “America loves the Queen

In her message on Commonwealth Day 2021, Her Majesty described the Commonwealth of Nations'. “friendship, spirit of unity and achievements”

Song. The lord is my shepherd!.

To the New king (KING CHARLES III)

We promise to use Queen Elizabeth II name to name a girls house if we get such funds  grant's to build one or name the hospital wards or any ambulance service van we get. Her name will be printed. We will have Her in our hearts forever!

We shall also kindly ask to use King Charles iii name to name the boys dormitory block, if we get a grant or donations, build king Charles boys house, dormitories.

Personally,  I was named Charles, after Prince Charles. My Mother Rose loved the Queen so much and she attended school taught by British and American teachers TORORO GIRLS SCHOOL, . She has always treated me like. Prince and she call me so.

Long live the King Charles III of England.

Amen.
