The devastating cyclone Yash has lashed down in the coastal region of Bangladesh on 26 May 2021. The low-lying areas of coastal zone were inundated, embankments were collapsed. BEDS team is working hard and sole to combat the effect of the cyclone Yash. BEDS team aware local people and local people of Shymnagar sub district took shelter in the BEDS’s Cylone Shelter and training shelter. Now they need food, pure drinking water and medicine. Help the disaster victim coastal people
Help the disaster victim coastal people

Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh is extremely disaster vulnerable. People of this region have to face a numerous (small and big) natural disasters over the year. Sometimes, massive disasters occur in here which stuns the general life and livelihood of the general people. In the recent years, some mega disasters occurred in this region like Sidr, Aila, Bulbul, Fani, Titli, Amphan etc. Among them, Amphan damaged much. Households destroyed, trees uprooted, embankments damaged, agricultural lands flooded etc. BEDS provided emergency relief support to 150 coastal families with the help of GlobalGiving. Some of the families who fall victim also get rehabilitation support for sewing and farming activity by BEDS. The supported villagers are doing well with duck, chicken, sheep, seeds and earning money.

The Amphan affected people could not come out from the damage due to Amphan and they are facing the corona virus pandemic. At present, they have no work. They are living a miserable life. Now they are at the risk of devastating cyclone Yash. Some of the Amphan affected people said, “In this season, every moment we live with the fear of cyclones. It takes all our goods as well as our happiness. Every time, we pray so that we can survive from the cyclones.”

We would like to thank all our donors for their support to help the Amphan affected people. We are requesting all our donors to start monthly recurring donation by clicking the following link;

As the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh is in the front line of global climate change; it has to face several natural disasters all over the year. Sometimes, massive disasters occur in this region that devastates coastal life and livelihoods. In the past few gigantic disasters took place here like Cyclone Sidr, Aila, Bulbul, Fani etc. Disaster risks are higher in May and June. For example, on May 20, 2020 a tremendous cyclone Amphan hit the Sundarbans area. Countless households destroyed, trees uprooted, embankments damaged, cultivable farms flooded with saline water.BEDS provided emergency relief support to 150 coastal families with the help of GlobalGiving.

At recent time, Bangladesh government has declared lockdown from 26 March 2021 and it has been extended to 16 May, 2021. They could not go out or other cities for earning their livelihood. They are leading a measurable life. They have no work, no money and no food. BEDS supported duck, chicken, sheep, seeds to the villagers. But they still need support to fulfill their basic needs. But currently we are unable to provide those people with direct support as we have no fund available right now.

So, we are requesting all our donors to come forward for the aid of those victim people. We hope that all our donors will start monthly recurring donation for the helpless, disaster vulnerable poor people. Link of recurring donation is as follows;

Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh is in the front line of global climate change. People of this region face a number of natural disasters over the year. Sometimes, massive disasters occur in this region that demolishes coastal life and livelihoods. In the recent past, few massive disasters took place in the region like Sidr, Aila, Amphan etc. Among them, Amphan caused huge loss to the coastal people (uncountable households destroyed, trees uprooted, embankments damaged). BEDS provided emergency relief support to 150 coastal families with the help of GlobalGiving. Victim families also get rehabilitation support for sewing and farming activity. People who get rehabilitation support (duck, chicken, sheep, seeds) are doing good with their supported items and earning money. So, they are recovering from their loss steadily. Our supported families are trying to recover from their loss and damage. We are in regular touch with the affected people and providing advice and motivation to them where necessary. But they still need support to recover from the damage. But currently we are unable to provide those people with direct support as we have no fund available right now.

So, we are requesting all our donors to come forward for the aid of those victim people. We hope that all our donors will start monthly recurring donation for the helpless, Amphan affected and disaster vulnerable people. Link of recurring donation is as follows;
