Back to back disasters like cyclone Amphan and pandemic COVID-19 have broken the backbone of coastal people;s lives in Bangladesh. Especially of those who live in the territory of mighty Sundarbans. The South-West coastal regions of Bangladesh is prone to natural as well as health hazards. The COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown has exacerbated the ongoing hardships that come with existing marginalization of and discrimination against forest peoples.
Meeting with local people has given us a very sad picture of their miserable lives after COVID-19 emergency situation. They have been sitting jobless most of the days of the month. Maximum families have borrowed loans from money lenders. They can’t pay the loans if they don’t have any earnings. Though the lockdown situation is minimized but the economic condition has not gotten better.
Due to Covid- 19 pandemic, this small source of income is almost closed. Due to lockdown, last two year the road transportations were off. They did not get the value of their Fish/crab and other forest resources and also they could not go out of the village for work. As a result, they are living miserable lives.
So, we are requesting all our donors to come forward for the aid of those victim people. We hope that all our donors will start monthly recurring donation for the helpless, disaster vulnerable poor people. Link of recurring donation is as follows
