As the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh is in the front line of global climate change; it has to face several natural disasters all over the year. Sometimes, massive disasters occur in this region that devastates coastal life and livelihoods. In the past few gigantic disasters took place here like Cyclone Sidr, Aila, Bulbul, Fani etc. Disaster risks are higher in May and June. For example, on May 20, 2020 a tremendous cyclone Amphan hit the Sundarbans area and recently cyclone Yash lashed out in this coastal area. Countless households destroyed, trees uprooted, embankments damaged, cultivable farms flooded with saline water. BEDS provided emergency relief support to 150 coastal families with the help of GlobalGiving.

Continuous lock down has become the life miserable. The sufferings of the rural coastal people are beggar description. They could not go out or other cities for earning their livelihood. They are leading a measurable life. They have no work, no money and no food. BEDS supported duck, chicken, sheep, seeds to the villagers. But they still need support to fulfill their basic needs. But currently we are unable to provide those people with direct support as we have no fund available right now.

So, we are requesting all our donors to come forward for the aid of those victim people. We hope that all our donors will start monthly recurring donation for the helpless, disaster vulnerable poor people. Link of recurring donation is as follows;

Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh is extremely disaster vulnerable. People of this region have to face a numerous (small and big) natural disasters over the year. Sometimes, massive disasters occur in here which stuns the general life and livelihood of the general people. In the recent years, some mega disasters occurred in this region like Sidr, Aila, Bulbul, Fani, Titli, Amphan etc. Among them, Amphan damaged much. Households destroyed, trees uprooted, embankments damaged, agricultural lands flooded etc. BEDS provided emergency relief support to 150 coastal families with the help of GlobalGiving. Some of the families who fall victim also get rehabilitation support for sewing and farming activity by BEDS. The supported villagers are doing well with duck, chicken, sheep, seeds and earning money.

Recently cyclone Yash lashed down in this region. They have lost fishes from the farms. It’s hard for them to find their livelihood in the village. In this moment, covid cases has been increasing day by day in the border areas of Bangladesh and the government has declared strict lock down from 1st day of this months. It has been difficult for the disaster affected people to earn livelihood. They need support to survive with the disasters and also with corona virus.

We would like to thank all our donors for their support to help the Amphan affected people. We are requesting all our donors to start monthly recurring donation by clicking the following link;
