DOGPAW off-leash has had a wild year. We began the year with a goal - aggressive awareness. Most people in Clark County did not know that DOGPAW off-leash parks were run by a nonprofit. Many believed that their tax dollars supported the off-leash parks which they don't. Yet over 5,000 people a week use our dog parks. It was time to take some action. And this year we made a splash!
We spent this year rebuilding community awareness, building a new website for people to connect and get involved, working to recruit new volunteers and . . . we made a ambitious goal - raise $100,000 by the end of 2017. It was a long uphill climb. We found local business partners who believed in preserving green spaces for our dogs and our community, we built our membership base, we invested in internal structures that would help us connect. We reached out to other nonprofits to help us find ways to partner and grow. All in all it was an exciting year!
So how did we do? Did we reach our goal?
We are $12,000 away from our goal of $100,000! Our GlobalGiving community has been a valuable part of our campaign. And we aren't done yet! We want to keep growing. Many of our parks are overcrowded and in 2018 we want to see DOGPAW begin to seek new land and work to build more parks. We are in the beginning stages of our discussions with Clark County to see how we can work better together and serve our community for the long-term. Exciting things are coming!
