DOGPAW has had a very busy summer with monthly membership drives and lure course runs at our parks. We have signed up another 60 members this summer.
Our big fundraising event this summer was Bark in the Park K9 Carnival at Ross Dog Park. The event included over 40 vendors, many showcasing carnival games in their spaces, food, live music by Mother Joseph Academy Players, a doggy pool area, our 2nd annual K9 Pageant, Police K9 demonstrations, doggie bowling and relay races, and more. A great time was had by all. Our attendees also donated over two 55 gallon drums of food to Second Chance Companions.
DOGPAW was recipient of a Doggie Wash fundraising event by New Seasons Market (partnered with Mud Bay). New Seasons' employees and DOGPAW volunteers washed over 40 dogs and two guinea pigs. New Seasons' employees also made plaster paw prints for a small donation. The proceeds donated to DOGPAW from this event equalled approximately $400.
DOGPAW seized another opportunity to assist our Police K9 by raising $5,732 from the community for Retired K9 Officer Dash's medical expenses. Dash underwent major emergency surgery to save his life. Upon retirement, K9 Officers' living and medical expenses are at the expense of their handlers and their families. Clark County residents stepped up big time in support of Dash.
