The new DOGPAW board members and volunteers have been busy since our last report.

Walk for the Animals:  The DOGPAW pack walked again in the benefit three-mile Walk for the Animals for the Southwest Washington Humane Society and raised over $1,000.  Our volunteers also garnered several new members at our booth at the event.

Hazel Dell Parade:  DOGPAW walked over 2.5 miles again this year in our local parade of bands.  Walkers and their dogs dressed in the parade theme of Super Heroes and passed out rolls of poop bags (donated by local vendor Canine Utopia) to dog owners along the parade route.

Events:  We've continued to expose the orgaization through local dog events such as our monthly lure course runs at each of our parks and our recent Dog Days of Summer vendor fair.  In May, we partnered with Canines for Clean Water to conduct an educational booth and poop cleanup/work party at our Dakota dog park.

Park Cleanups:  We are lucky to have a wonderful new volunteer board member who is very proactive in conducting frequent cleanup parties at our dog parks and has partnered with several local businesses for free/discounts on bark/mulch and other maintenance resources.

Park Dedications:  DOGPAW demonstrated our respect and appreciation for our local Canine police units by recently dedicating two of our dog parks after K9 officers killed in the line of duty.  We dedicated our Hockinson dog park to K9 Officer Kane and our Brush Prairie dog park to K9 Officer Lucky.  Many sheriff and police employees attended these two dedications and provided us with K9 demonstrations.

Agility Course:   We were fortunate to have received a $2,000 grant from The Nutro Pet Company for installation of an agility course at our Brush Prairie (Lucky) park.  The course was designed by a local volunteer and husband (Bob Weinkauf) of the founder of DOGPAW, Pat Weinkauf.  They donated much time and most of the agilitly equipment for our park.  A large handful of volunteers dedicated themselves to completely building this course in one weekend.  It is a thing of beauty.

Current Fundraising Effort:  DOGPAW is beginning an aggressive fundraising campaign to raise money for the replacement of Washougal, WA K9 Officer Dingo who is retiring after seven years of loyal service.  We are proud and happy to raise money for the replacement of a retiring dog instead of a fallen hero.  Our goal is to raise $12,000 by October 19, 2013.

Thank you for supporting local dogs and their humans to be mentally and physically active and happy!
