Summary

In Burundi, the number of leprosy cases detected in 2016 was 519. 1 case out of 5 presents serious disabilities on arrival at a health center or hospital. Worse, for some poor populations and in a precarious life, and it is the Burundian Alliance for the fight against the Tuberculosis and the leprosy "ABTL" initiates this.

Challenge

In fact, 496 new cases of this disease were detected in 2014, of which 85% were cases of multibacterial (contagious) leprosy. 294, 300 and 445 cases were detected in 2013, 2012 and 2011, respectively. Worse, for some poor populations and in a precarious life, the Burundian Alliance for the fight against Tuberculosis and Leprosy initiates this project in order to distribute goats to the 500 returnee households aims to improve The living conditions of this resourceless population.

Solution

They are not as demanding as the cow in terms of food and means of care. We will give 3 goats per household. At the end of two years, under normal conditions, they will be doubled. The person affected by the leprosy will be able to sell one to satisfy any need. 2. To supplement their diet as the project targets goats that give milk. 3. To obtain land that they lack in order to live on the same level as the others. 4. To multiply income-generation

Long-Term Impact

The objective of the project to distribute goats to the 500 households of people affected by leprosy is to improve the living conditions of this population without resources in the following areas At least 80 people affected by leprosy in the livestock sector Of at least 100 people affected by leprosy the field of agriculture At least 100 people affected by leprosy in the economic field At least 100 people affected by leprosy in the social field
