This project will fund the recruitment and training of 70 men in Oregon, providing a mentor for at-risk boys and young men that are experiencing fatherlessness so that the next generation is better equipped to support women, children, and families.

In the U.S. 63% of youth suicides, 71% of high school drop outs and 90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes according to the U.S. Department of Health. Also the incarceration rate is 20 times the national average for those without a father in the home. This project will affect 70 youth in Oregon who are in need of a mentor.

This project will help recruit, train, and match mentors with youth in Oregon. The mentors are contacted monthly to ensure consistency in meeting with youth and to provide additional training and support.

Long-Term Impact

This project will match 70 youth with a mentor, which will provide them with the tools necessary to make healthy life choices. The long-term effect will help lower crime, increase graduation rates and lessen the need for government assistance to name a few benefits.
