OUR PURPOSE AND SERVICE OUR NEED AND ASK Donations are much needed (as well as greatly appreciated!) to help fund den expansion as well as pay for current operating expenses in New York, San Diego, and Seattle. The majority of The Writing Den's funding and administration of the organization, 90% has been overseen since its launch by Co-Founders/Staff, Jill Higson and Christian Michaels. Individual donating and volunteering accounts for only 10%.

We set up and oversee monthly dens at our partners' locations, with 36 total events and 72 hours of writing in 2018. Our presence and impact will increase with 7 monthly dens and 84 total events for 2019. More than 200 cards and letters have been written with many success stories shared by our guests, as well recipients of their writing. Both express gratitude and relief for reconnecting with a family member that they may not have know their location or living status. Forgiveness, empowerment, and employment have also been positive outcomes.
