This project will bring children from 25 rural schools in Oaxaca to learn about pre-Columbian art in Mexico and take cultural workshops in the museum. Thus awakening their interest in culture and the arts, forging future Oaxacan artists.
Due to lack of resources, children in rural schools can not receive adequate arts and cultural education. We have noticed that many of the children in the communities have great artistic talent, but there are no opportunities for them to develop.
By bringing children to the museum and providing artistic workshops we will influence their education and their desire to obtain a better quality of life through art, history, archeology and culture in general. We will also achieve that these children value the artistic power of their ancestors and seek to imitate them.
In Oaxaca there is an educational delay of more than 25 years. That is why we want to influence the educational quality of our Oaxacan youth. With these workshops we will achieve that Oaxacan youth have different inducements and that they do not fall into drugs or harmful activities.
