All of us here at Critter Camp are feeling very grateful this year!

We have so many supporters, generous kind people who have made it possible for us to rescue

hundreds of small pets once again this year.

In our nearly 11 years in operation Critter Camp has saved the lives of 1500 small animal, thanks to

all of you!

Our most recent arrivals include a pair of young captive bred garter snakes, Blackie & Stripes, and a hairless rat named Gus.

As the weather chills we look forward to the holidays, a chance to appreciate everyone who makes this rescue possible, and to celebrate the lives we've saved!

Thank you!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Such a busy summer at Critter Camp, turning into an equally busy fall!

We took in Boomer the hedgehog, Charlamagne the bunny, and a pet rat that was found at a wildlife center who apparently got pregnant by a wild rat and now she has 7 healthy little pups.

We made a fun video of Lizzie the bearded dragon riding Rambo the sulcata tortoise like a cowboy.

The video was picked up by MSN and they did a fantastic segment, click here to see it!

It was on Cute Overload too ( click here).

We had an article on the PetravelR site too- click here to read.

We won $500 each in contests by Staseck Chevrolet (click here for the story) and

Cabot Creamery Reward Volunteers program (click here).

And we won $1000 in the Animal Sheltering contest too! Thanks to all of our fans that voted for Critter Camp!

All this comes in so handy since we spend a minimum of $450 every week in supplies alone!

Here at Critter Camp Exotic Pet Sanctuary our philosophy is that humans bred every one of these animals here
for their enjoyment or profit and we as humans have a responsibility to
give them all a safe, healthy, happy, loved life even if they aren't
economically beneficial anymore.
Only when we as a collective people learn to give every creature's life
value will the pet overpopulation, abandonment and abuse diminish. As
long as pets are considered pieces of property to be thrown away when
used up or not wanted, people will continue to not value each and every life

and sadly most "rescue" policy reflects that.

Oh My! We have taken in so many new animals recently!

14 hamsters from a shelter that had to have them out of the building immediately or be euthanized.

A guinea pig whose owner was moving and couldnt take him along.

The pregnant guinea pigs we rescued had their babies- 7 total.

A family of 8 gerbils.

Two sugar glider brothers, Steve and Tony from a shelter where they had been adopted out but returned because they were not handleable.

And finally Tod , an 8 week old domestic bred red fox kit whose owner also had to move and could not take him along.

Busy times at Critter Camp!!

Critter Camp's NEWEST Rescue!!

Thanks to Sgt Sandy of the Chicago Police Department for rescuing this big squishy ratty boy - apparently someone left him in his aquarium along with a tarantula in another tank on a dumpster in the city. The Sgt found a good home for the arachnid, but no one wanted the ratty.

Luckily she found Critter Camp Exotic Pet Sanctuary and even met us halfway so he could come here to live his life safe & loved! So we named him Sarge! Thanks to you supporters we can save the neediest pets that literally were thrown away like him! (Sadly many of the rescues here were found in trash cans or dumpster)

Please also vote for Critter Camp in the Animal Rescue Site Contest!

And stop by and Like our facebook Page if you havent already!

We also have a litter of 8 young ratties that are looking for homes- 5 ladies and 3 boys.

Take care & Have a great Summer!!

Critter Camp: Pet Sanctuary to be Featured on Reality TV Show!

": What started as a pet research project has bubbled over into a massive stateline animal sanctuary. Now, it's about to get another boost into the national spotlight.

"Right now we have about 350 of about 30 different species," said Beth Randall, Director and Founder of Critter Camp.

All the animals are housed at Critter Camp in German Valley. It's a pet sanctuary founded by Randall. It's the only one like it in the nation.

"Our main focus is to give a home to small, unadoptable unusual pets other than cats and dogs," said Randall."

"Exotic Pet Rescuers Dream A Dream That Comes True

Nestled in German Valley, Illinois, is Critter Camp, a 501(c)(3), USDA-licensed, all volunteer-operated pet sanctuary that only accepts unadoptable and unusual small pets. It is run with blood, sweat and tears by the Randall family with the help of generous volunteers. It has come a long way from where it began. And due to a pending new TV series, it might be able to go much further.

Beth Randall is the creator and operator. This year marks the exotic pet sanctuary’s 10th anniversary. The rescue survives on donations given for its educational presentations in the community, tours, individual donations from caring people from all over, and a few small grants."

The actual building construction will be either this fall or next spring- we are beyond excited!!

Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support  Critter Camp!!

We hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day as well!
