PAST&E Fall News

Dear Friend,

With your support PAST&E is continuing in our mission to improve the lives of at-risk youth in Portland, Oregon, USA. Here are a few updates from our program:

PAST&E Science Club

Every Monday members from the Portland Junior Scientists, a student-run, community service organization where high school students unite with at-risk youth to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, spend the afternoon with our Scholar Athletes. This Monday during Science Club, the Scholar Athletes learned about Non-Newtonian Fluids by doing an experiment with food coloring, corn starch, and water. What messy fun it was!

Fall Junior Team Tennis Update

The Fall Junior Team Tennis season is well under way! Forty-one Scholar Athletes represent PAST&E on five teams: The Terminetters, Swing Theory, Straight Aces, the Racqueteers, and the Kids on the Court. Our teams have been traveling to local clubs and tennis facilities meeting and competing with players across Greater Portland. So far they've won nine matches and over 300 games!

Happy Thanksgiving from our PAST&E Family to yours!

The PAST&E Scholar Athletes expressed their gratitude for their families at this month's family meeting. Each Scholar Athlete read his or her "Why I'm Thankful" letter out loud in front of the group of families. Check out this video to see what our Scholar Athletes are thankful for.

Thank you for your continued support!
