Challenge

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA's MCP is a community-based project that takes the SPCA and its expertise into disadvantaged communities in Cape Town on a daily basis. Residents living in these areas live in conditions of considerable deprivation and poverty and the animals found in these townships often bear testimony to this.

Solution

The funds raised from this project will keep one mobile unit in service for a year providing much needed veterinary treatments to animals in need across the Cape Metropole's most disadvantaged areas.

Long-Term Impact

Treatment of the general health and care of animals in disadvantaged animals - the treatments will ensure the animals will be spared from the horror of contracting potentially fatal diseases and passing certain diseases to people in the community. The services provided by the Mobile unit also serve to ensure animals are sterilised in a controlled manner to reduce unwanted litters.
