Dear Friend,
Punitha was infected by polio during childhood and both her legs are affected, she is not able to stand or walk. Before coming to our training center she had almost no mobility. While enrolled she learned to use a wheelchair and a hand-operated tricycle. After graduating from our computer course, she began working for a small business but soon discovered that they were unwilling to accommodate her disability and made life miserable for her. She was very disappointed. Part of our placement process is follow up with individuals and we realized that this business was not a good fit. We were able to secure another opportunity for her where she soon thrived. She has purchased a modified scooter with her earnings and is using it to commute to work.
She conveys her special thanks to India Partners and all those who helped her. She says, “I never dreamed that I would be able to get a job in the IT field and then to be able to commute to work on my own.” Your gifts have changed Punitha’s life!
Your gift is helping young people with disabilities gain hope and self-confidence through computer training. In the past few months, 54 people have been served through this project. Your gift enables them to go to school and receive a quality education in computers.
Many of the students come from poor families and because of their disability, they are oppressed and marginalized. The stigma is they can't do anything or pursue a career.
However, your gift makes it possible for them to succeed. Computer training gives people with disabilities the necessary skills to apply for quality jobs in the workforce. After course completion, the students take a Government Exam and graduate with a "Certificate in Computer Application." This is very valuable certificate when looking for jobs in India, and often helps get placement in government positions.
Thank you for changing lives and helping people like Punitha. Your gifts bring the change that transform lives. Without you, Punitha, and others like her, would suffer needlessly.
Sincerely,
John Sparks

Many of the students come from poor families and because of their disability, they are oppressed and marginalized. The stigma is they can't do anything or pursue a career.
When Ruhi was a little girl she contracted polio. Her condition was not terrible but it meant that she would walk with a limp, but the limp labeled her as disabled. As she got older she continued to lose motor skills as her muscles grew weaker, she now uses a cane and sometimes crutches.
When she reached college they would not allow her to take the engineering courses she wanted, she was placed in a Commerce Course (Business Administration), but even then she was not allowed to take the computer classes for one reason or the other. (note: Higher education in India is very competitive and excluding people with disabilities is common.) They allowed her to graduate but without computer training she could not get a job; neither with a company or with the government.
Ruhi read an ad for our Computer Training Course and with her education was naturally accepted. She grasped the concepts and quickly picked up all the requirements of the course. Soon after graduation she was placed in a government job, with a good salary. Our placement services helped her and her employer to adjust to her new position so that they were both able to accommodate her special needs within the work environment.
Ruhi still visits our center from time to time and never misses any special events as she has developed strong relationships with students and her instructors.
Our success is measured in changed lives. Ruhi is one example of how together we can release the potential of people who are otherwise marginalized. Thank you for Transforming Youth in India with Computer Training. Your gifts bring the change that transform lives. Without you, Ruhi and others like her would suffer needlessly.
Sincerely,
John

Allow me to tell you about Priscilla:
Priscilla came to the India Partners Computer training with much apprehension. She had suffered from years of disappointment and was least interested in having unmet expectations. A bright young lady she had been denied a seat in college for computers but was able to get trained in business. The college however was not able to accommodate her disability in the computer lab so she graduated without any skills or qualification in computers. Which meant her degree did not provide her the skills necessary to get a job. She was tired and frustrated and spent her life at home sitting in front of the television. Her future was without hope.
After she started India Partners’ one-year course, recognized by the state government, she begin to show signs of her intellect and capacity to excel. Encouraged by her instructors to accept nothing short of excellence she put in extra hours and graduated first in her batch.
She has been accepted to a position with a multi-national corporation working in their back office in the finance division. Earning a good salary while living at home she has started her own internet café and coaching centre where she can leverage her business sense and computer skills to maximize her income.
During our interview I asked what the most important thig was that she learned. Her response, “self- confidence, before joining I thought of myself as a failure. While at the India Partners Computer Training I discovered that my legs might not work but my mind is as sharp as anyone’s and surely I can succeed if I am self- motivated and do not sell myself short.”
Thank you for changing lives and helping people like Priscilla. You gifts bring the change that transform lives. Without you Priscilla and others like her would suffer needlessly.

Because of you, students like Karthikeyan are thriving.
Karthikeyan was born with dwarfism and a deformed spine. He had a difficult childhood because of his disability and poverty. In spite of the difficulties, he was able to finish school. Karthikeyan decided to join our computer training program to study typing and computers. When he first started he failed the typing exam three times. He was ready to give up but the our staff encouraged him to keep practicing and try again.
On his fourth exam, he passed! He said, “I give a million thanks for helping me to pass this typing exam and I hope to pass the COA (Computer on Office Automation) government exam too and get a good government job.”
Thank you for changing lives and helping people like Karthikeyan. You brought a smile to his face with your gift.
Sincerely,
John Sparks
